Madness! Is Infantino offering bribes?
Gianni Infantino has decided to back his revolutionary idea with massive cash payouts.
Details: According to The Times, the FIFA president sent a letter to 211 national associations, demanding that they decide by September 19 whether to participate in a new investment project linked to the World Cup. This leaves the federations with just 53 days to make their choice.
If the associations back the proposal, each could receive up to $40 million. The total volume of the new funding package is estimated at $10 billion, with funds set to become available from January 1, 2027.
Countries that refuse to join the project will retain access only to FIFA's existing development program. According to sources, instead of $40 million, they will receive about $10 million.
The proposal involves attracting private investors, who would be able to acquire a stake in a new commercial entity tied to FIFA's main tournaments. At the same time, the organization itself plans to keep a controlling share.
One source opposing the initiative called such a difference in payouts "outright bribery." The English FA and CONCACAF have also voiced concerns over the lack of transparency and proper discussion of the project.
Reminder: BREAKING! Europe set to boycott World Cup!
