Chennai Super Kings' Urvil Patel etched his name into Indian Premier League history by matching the record for the fastest fifty in the tournament. Facing Lucknow Super Giants in Chennai, he reached the 50-run milestone in just 13 balls, emerging as the central hero in his team's five-wicket victory.
By doing so, Patel equaled the feat of Yashasvi Jaiswal, who also smashed a fifty off 13 balls in IPL 2023. This achievement not only set a league record but also ranks among the fastest fifties in the entire history of T20 cricket.
It's worth noting that the 27-year-old is playing just his fourth match of the IPL 2026 season, having been given an opportunity due to an injury to a main squad member. Despite a modest start to the tournament, his explosive performance has already made him one of the standout sensations of the season.
