Álvaro Arbeloa names the main culprit behind the disrupted game against Bayern
In the UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg, Real Madrid lost 3–4 to Bayern Munich and were eliminated from the competition. After the match, the Spanish side’s coach pointed to the man he believes was responsible for the breakdown of the game.
Details: Speaking at the post-match press conference, Álvaro Arbeloa stated that the chief referee, Slavko Vinčić, was to blame for the situation and for ruining the match.
Quote: “The referee ruined the game. You cannot send a player off for such an action,” the Real Madrid coach said after the final whistle.
As previously reported, Eduardo Camavinga came on in the second half. He received his first yellow card in the 78th minute and then, just eight minutes later, a second. The second booking came after he prevented Bayern from restarting play by picking up the ball and throwing it aside. The referee judged it to be unsporting behaviour.
Reminder: Immediately after the final whistle, emotions were still running high, and Real Madrid players sought to confront the referee.
