Lucas Ribeiro Tipped to Shine as Sundowns Clash with Chiefs in Sold-Out Showdown

Former Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana midfielder Teko Modise has tipped Lucas Ribeiro to be the game-changer in Saturday's Betway Premiership showdown between Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs at a sold-out Lucas Moripe Stadium. Kick-off is set for 3:30 PM in what promises to be a thrilling clash.

Sundowns enter this high-stakes encounter as heavy favorites, sitting comfortably at the top of the league with 51 points—a massive 15-point lead over second-placed Orlando Pirates. Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs are struggling in eighth place with only 25 points.

“Lucas Ribeiro will be eager to showcase his talent and make his mark in such a high-stakes clash,” Modise said.

Speaking in his Hollywoodbets Sports column, Modise highlighted Ribeiro as a key player to watch in this match: “These are the types of games that put players in the spotlight. If you’re not already in that conversation, match-winning performances in big matches prove why you belong.”

The 26-year-old forward has been in red-hot form this season, leading the goal-scoring charts with 11 goals in 17 games while also providing six assists—the second-highest in the league.

Chiefs will need to contain Ribeiro to stand a chance of causing an upset. Orlando Pirates failed to do so in early February and were thrashed 4-1, with Ribeiro scoring twice and creating several chances.
