Sarmiento has officially announced the signing of Lucas Pratto, who joins the club on loan until December 2026. The veteran striker becomes the seventh reinforcement for the Junín-based team ahead of the upcoming Clausura tournament in Argentina’s top flight.

Known as “El Oso,” Pratto arrives from Olimpia of Paraguay and will wear the number 12 jersey. The 36-year-old boasts a rich career, having played for Boca Juniors, Tigre, Unión, Vélez, River Plate and Defensa y Justicia in Argentina, with additional stints in Norway, Chile, Italy, Brazil, the Netherlands and Paraguay. He’s logged 648 professional matches and scored 176 goals.

With Vélez, he won two league titles and a domestic Supercup. His time at River Plate brought him even greater success: he lifted the Copa Argentina, the Supercopa Argentina, the 2018 Copa Libertadores—scoring in both legs of the final against Boca—and the Recopa Sudamericana.

Pratto also featured for Argentina’s national team under Edgardo Bauza in 2016, scoring in qualifiers against Venezuela and Colombia. However, he missed the 2018 World Cup cycle after being left out following Jorge Sampaoli’s appointment.
