Ademola Lookman’s future has taken a dramatic turn after weeks of speculation linking him with a January move to Galatasaray. The Nigerian forward had grown frustrated with his limited role at Atalanta, opening the door for several clubs — including Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe, Atlético Madrid and Tottenham — to show interest. Reports in Turkey even claimed he liked the idea of joining close friend Victor Osimhen, who recently moved to Galatasaray.

The transfer buzz intensified when Nigerian striker Olarenwaju Kayode publicly urged him to accept the offer, saying, “If Lookman were to ask me, I would definitely tell him to come to Galatasaray…” He argued that Lookman and Osimhen could form one of Europe’s most dangerous attacking duos. Galatasaray reportedly offered a €9 million salary and used informal channels involving Osimhen to convince him.

However, things changed after Atalanta replaced Ivan Jurić with new manager Raffaele Palladino. The new coach has quickly earned Lookman’s trust and made it clear he sees him as a key player. Italian journalist Alessandro Giovanni Pagliarini wrote that “a short-term exit… doesn’t seem all that certain,” noting Lookman is now focused on Atalanta.

Lookman has even restored Atalanta photos on his social media, signalling improved relations. With Palladino expected to give him more minutes in a system suited to his style, Lookman is now likely to remain in Italy until at least the end of the season.
