At 34 years old, Guinean international Lonsana Doumbouya is embarking on a new career as a sports consultant. Currently playing in Thailand, the forward stated his aspirations in an interview with Footmercato, highlighting his desire to mentor new players and provide thorough career assistance.
"I’ve already taken some steps,” Doumbouya said. “I opened a small hotel in Limoges with touches from the different countries I’ve been to. But to stay connected to soccer, I’m setting up a sports consulting company. Players often need more than just an agent—they need all-around support.”
Doumbouya plans to create a service that offers a range of help, like legal advice, physical therapy, foot care, and money management, customized to each player’s needs. His goal is to help players steer clear of typical blunders in their soccer careers by offering them individualized, considerate advice.
Reflecting on his experiences, he highlighted the cultural differences in player discipline, noting that European players might benefit most from this initiative. "The idea is to help players, especially in Europe, where good follow-up is sometimes lacking," he explained.
Doumbouya's dedication goes beyond logistics; he wants to be there for players when things count, using his experience to encourage and uplift the following generation.
