Cape Verde captain Ryan Mendes is reportedly the subject of an ongoing rape and physical assault investigation by New Zealand Police following allegations made by a Brazilian woman.

According to reports, the woman filed a complaint alleging that the captain forced entry into her hotel room and assaulted her during Cape Verde's tour of New Zealand in March. She has also stated that she has provided medical and forensic evidence to investigators.

The matter has reportedly been under investigation since April, while complaints have also been submitted to FIFA and the Cape Verde Football Federation.

At this stage, no criminal charges or court rulings have been announced, and the investigation remains ongoing. Neither the New Zealand Police nor the relevant football authorities made any public statement about the case.
