Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Piero Hincapié as a long-term replacement for one of their most iconic defenders. According to Bolavip, the Premier League giants are targeting the Bayer Leverkusen defender to succeed Virgil van Dijk, who is expected to renew his contract for two more seasons but will turn 34 in July.

With an eye on the future, the Reds see Hincapié as a reliable option to reinforce the backline. The Ecuadorian's versatility and strong performances have made him a top target. However, he might hesitate to accept a backup role behind current starters Van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté. There's also speculation that Hincapié could replace Andrew Robertson, as the Scottish left-back has seen a decline in form in recent months.

While Hincapié has primarily played as a left-back this season with Leverkusen, he is a central defender for Ecuador's national team, forming a solid partnership with Willian Pacho. His versatility is a major asset.

So far this season, Hincapié has made 40 appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing two assists in 3,413 minutes of action. He holds a market value of €50 million, and his release clause stands at €42 million. His potential transfer fee is expected to be under €60 million.

Besides Liverpool, clubs like Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester City, and Arsenal are also reportedly monitoring the 22-year-old. With interest heating up, Hincapié could be one of the most sought-after defenders in the upcoming transfer window.
