Liverpool interested in De Jong, but there's a condition for the transfer to happen
One of Barcelona’s strategies for improving their financial situation involves parting ways with midfielder Frenkie de Jong, whose salary is considered excessively high. While there appears to be demand for the Dutchman, selling him won’t be straightforward.
Details: According to teamTALK, Liverpool is interested in signing the 27-year-old midfielder. However, for the Reds to seriously pursue his transfer, De Jong would need to agree to a significant salary reduction.
Liverpool is unlikely to push for his signing, or any other major purchase, in January. Manager Arne Slot is reportedly satisfied with the current squad, and the club’s transfer activity is expected to focus on the summer window.
Reminder: Reports have previously indicated that Barcelona is open to offers for De Jong starting at €35 million. There have also been rumors about a potential move to Saudi Arabia, which his agent has firmly denied.
