Liverpool have made up their minds! Barcelona star could stay at Anfield for a reduced price
Liverpool could be preparing a major transfer surprise! The Reds are reportedly ready to turn Ronald Araujo's loan from Barcelona into a permanent move after the Uruguayan defender impressed during his first months at Anfield. However, the English giants may attempt to secure a significant discount.
Details: According to Liverpool journalist Lewis Steele, the club are open to keeping Araujo beyond the current season. His performances have convinced Liverpool's hierarchy that he could become a long-term solution in defence. The Merseyside club may also negotiate a transfer fee below the previously agreed £47 million purchase option.

The 27-year-old joined Liverpool from Barcelona on a season-long loan in August 2026. His agreement includes a purchase option worth approximately €55 million. Although initially recruited to strengthen the centre of defence, Araujo has also impressed at right-back.
The Uruguay international has adapted to the physical demands of the Premier League, demonstrating his strength in aerial challenges, defensive positioning and ability to protect the penalty area. His recent performances have strengthened the case for keeping him permanently.
Nevertheless, no final transfer agreement has been reached. Liverpool must decide whether to activate the existing option or negotiate fresh terms with Barcelona. A lower fee would represent an attractive opportunity for the Reds, while Araujo's future remains one of the club's key decisions ahead of 2027.
Reminder: OFFICIAL: Liverpool have signed a star from Barcelona on a season-long loan.
