Lionel Messi couldn't complete the World Cup qualification match against Brazil due to groin discomfort, as reported by ESPN.

During the World Cup 2026 qualification match against Brazil, Messi sought assistance from the Argentine national team's medical staff multiple times. Towards the end of the match, Angel Di Maria replaced the captain. After the game, Messi confirmed that he had suffered an injury:

"I felt discomfort in the adductor muscle. This was my last match this year, so I have time to recover and start 2024 at full strength."

Argentina secured a 1-0 victory over Brazil in the World Cup 2026 qualification match. The match took place on November 22 at the Maracanã Stadium.

The sole goal in the match was scored by Argentine national team defender and Benfica's Nicolas Otamendi in the 63rd minute.
