Lionel Messi scores against Toronto and rewrites Inter Miami history
In another MLS regular season match, Inter Miami hosted Toronto FC at their home ground. The game took place on the night of Monday, April 7, featuring a historic event for the "Herons."
In the first half, Inter dominated possession and had several opportunities to score. Just before halftime, the hosts managed to find the net. On the 39th minute, Messi found the back of the net, but his goal was disallowed due to a foul in the attack. Just three minutes later, Bernardeschi responded with a precise shot — and this goal stood.
Inter Miami quickly restored parity through the efforts of none other than Lionel Messi. This goal was validated, and it marked a historic moment for the "Herons." The Argentine forward moved to the top of the all-time scoring list for Inter Miami, now boasting 44 goals.
However, Inter could not secure the victory. In the second half, the Miami team created numerous dangerous chances and looked very convincing, but Toronto held on and left Florida with a point.
