An intriguing incident unfolded during the 2026 World Cup qualifier between Argentina and Colombia.

Details: During the match, one of the TV cameras managed to capture a heated exchange between Lionel Messi and Colombia's captain, James Rodríguez.

The Argentine star approached Rodríguez and, while covering his mouth, delivered a few pointed remarks. But despite his attempts at secrecy, expert lip readers were able to decode what was said:

Leo Messi to James Rodríguez: "You said that they helped us in the Copa America final. You talk too much."

Messi was referring to James’s comments from March 2025, when the Colombian midfielder claimed that Argentina had only won the Copa America thanks to the referee’s assistance.

Before kick-off, Lionel pointedly refused to shake Rodríguez's hand during the traditional pre-match handshake.
