Lineker suggests surprising candidate for Manchester United manager

With Erik ten Hag’s recent departure as Manchester United's head coach, speculation is rife about who will take over the reins at Old Trafford. Experts are naming unexpected potential candidates to lead the "Red Devils."

Details: English football legend Gary Lineker has suggested current interim England manager Lee Carsley as a strong candidate for United's head coach position, considering him a great fit for the team.

Quote: “I think it would be really interesting; I consider him a brilliant coach,” Lineker told talkSPORT. “Carsley is probably someone they wouldn’t think of, but he’s inventive and plays an extremely attacking style of football. From what I’ve heard, the England players think he’s very good and approaches the game with a thoughtful strategy. The only thing he has to get more comfortable with is the media side, but that’s something he can learn quickly.”

Reminder: Carsley is set to return as head coach of England's U21 team on January 1, 2025, when Thomas Tuchel will take over the senior squad, as per his agreement with the English Football Association.
