Libertadores Round of 16: Draw Details and Key Dates for the 2025 Knockout Stage

The 2025 Copa Libertadores has reached its defining stretch as the group stage wraps up and the knockout phase comes into focus. On June 4, CONMEBOL will hold the Round of 16 draw, splitting the 16 qualified teams into two pots: group winners and runners-up. Although the venue and time are yet to be officially confirmed, the format is locked in. There will be no away-goal rule, and matchups will consist of two legs, home and away.
Argentina will be well represented, with Vélez, Racing, River Plate, and Estudiantes already qualified. Central Córdoba still has a chance, while Talleres has been eliminated. From the rest of the continent, traditional powerhouses such as Palmeiras, Peñarol, São Paulo, Libertad, Atlético Nacional, and Botafogo have also secured their places. Four more teams are set to join following the final round of group play.
The draw procedure will prioritize group-stage performance. Teams finishing first will be placed in Pot 1 and enjoy home-field advantage in the second leg. Pot 2 will consist of the runners-up, who will host the first leg. Matches will kick off with the first legs between August 12 and 14, and return fixtures scheduled between August 19 and 21.
Looking further ahead, the single-match final is set for November 29 in Lima, Peru. With several past champions and dark horses vying for glory, the 2025 edition is shaping up to deliver high-stakes clashes from the very start of the knockout stage. The draw will be pivotal in shaping the road to Lima.
