Libertad Sign Hugo Fernández on Loan from Olimpia for Season Run-In

Libertad have announced the signing of Hugo Fernández on a one-year loan from Olimpia, according to Versus. The reigning Apertura champions confirmed the move on Tuesday, aiming to bolster their squad ahead of a demanding second half of 2025, which includes a Copa Libertadores Round of 16 campaign.
“Welcome to La Huerta, Huguito!” the club posted on social media, making the deal official. The 26-year-old attacking midfielder becomes Libertad’s second reinforcement of the transfer window.
This marks yet another exchange between the two Paraguayan giants. Earlier in the window, Robert Rojas moved from Olimpia to Libertad, while Adrián Alcaraz went in the opposite direction. Now it’s Fernández’s turn to make the switch and don the black-and-white kit.
The Uruguayan will look to carve out a role under head coach Ariel Galeano and contribute to Libertad’s pursuit of domestic dominance and continental success in the Libertadores knockout rounds.
