The renowned Maksimir Stadium in the Croatian capital, Zagreb, is set to cease its existence.

As reported on the official website of Dinamo Zagreb, the club has reached an agreement with local authorities and the Ministry of Construction to construct a new stadium.

It is expected that the demolition of Maksimir and the construction of a new, modern arena will commence later this year.

Maksimir Stadium was inaugurated in 1912, with its last reconstruction taking place in 2011. In addition to serving as the home ground for Dinamo Zagreb, the majority of Croatia's national team matches were also played at this stadium.

Today, Dinamo Zagreb will face Real Betis in the return leg of the UEFA Europa Conference League Round of 16 at Maksimir Stadium.
