The legendary striker, Edinson Cavani, has announced his retirement from the Uruguay national team. This means the Boca Juniors forward will not play in the upcoming Copa America 2024.
The 37-year-old forward announced his decision on his Instagram page.
Cavani is the second-highest scorer in the history of the Uruguay national team, with 58 goals in 136 matches. Only Luis Suárez has more, with 68 goals.
The former PSG, Manchester United, and Napoli striker debuted for the Uruguay national team in 2008.
At Copa America 2024, Marcelo Bielsa's team will compete in a group with the USA, Panama, and Bolivia.
