Legend returns! Fenerbahce urgently appoints new head coach

Renowned Dutch coach Dirk Kuyt has officially been appointed Fenerbahce's caretaker head coach following Ismail Kartal's dismissal after the derby defeat to Galatasaray.

Details: According to the Yellow-Navy Blues' press service, the 46-year-old former Fenerbahce forward will take charge of the first team on an interim basis. The club's management decided to part ways with Kartal immediately after the painful setback in the fiercely contested Istanbul derby, entrusting the Dutchman with the task of stabilizing the atmosphere in the dressing room.

Kuyt will lead the team until the club's hierarchy settles on a candidate and appoints a permanent head coach. Fenerbahce hope that the Dutchman's authority and deep connection with the team will help the players regroup and regain confidence in their own abilities in the fight for the top spots in the Turkish Super Lig.

It is worth noting that Dirk Kuyt is a familiar figure to local fans: from 2012 to 2015, he successfully represented Fenerbahce as a player, winning the Turkish league title, as well as the Turkish Cup and Super Cup with the Istanbul club.
