Legendary tennis player Andy Murray is set to be honored with his own statue at Wimbledon, according to the Daily Mail. The unveiling is scheduled for 2027, marking the 150th anniversary of the tournament.

Wimbledon chair Debbie Jevans stated that Murray was previously celebrated with a special event following his farewell match on Centre Court. But now, the organizers want to do something truly special for the tennis icon.

"We are looking to have a statue of Andy Murray here and we're working closely with him and his team. And the ambition is that we would unveil that on the 150th anniversary of our first championships, which was 1877, so would be in 2027. It will be lovely and really special. So he's got to rightly be very involved in that and he and his team will be," Jevans explained.

It should be noted that Murray is a two-time Wimbledon champion. He first clinched the title in 2013, becoming the first Briton in 77 years, since Fred Perry, to win a Grand Slam on home soil.

In addition to his Wimbledon triumphs, Murray is also the 2012 US Open champion and a two-time Olympic gold medalist.
