LeBron James has reached the 40,000 point mark. An incredible and unattainable figure
In today's match of the National Basketball Association regular season, the Lakers faced off against Denver. The game ended unfavorably for LeBron James' team (114:124), but the player himself achieved an incredible milestone.
In today's game, LeBron scored 26 points, thus reaching the 40,000-point mark for his NBA career. It took him 1475 games to accomplish this feat, and he now has 40,017 points to his credit, surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar by 1630 points.
Among active players, the closest to LeBron is Kevin Durant, who ranks ninth with 28,372 points.
The record holder himself commented on this achievement as follows:
"I still feel like I pose a threat on the court, still able to do what I did 10 years ago. And even some things I did 20 years ago ā it's strange to talk about.
I never thought about setting a scoring record. It just happened organically. I played the game the right way, went out there and let the game come to me. The scoring record became organic for me."
For the 39-year-old LeBron, this season marks his 21st in the NBA. This year, he is averaging 25.3 points, 7.9 assists, and 7.1 rebounds per game.
