Milan hosted Atalanta at the San Siro as part of the 26th round of the Italian championship.

The Rossoneri had a disappointing performance in the previous round, losing 2:4 to modest Monza. Therefore, the red and black team had a great incentive to redeem themselves in front of their home fans by defeating the strong Atalanta side.

Both teams had a balanced first half, reflected in both the shot statistics (9-7) and the scoreline. The teams exchanged goals and went into halftime with a level score.

Rafael Leao put the home team ahead in the 3rd minute of the match. The Portuguese executed an excellent individual run and accurately struck from outside the penalty area. Bergamo's side responded with a converted penalty from Teun Koopmeiners.

The second half saw a gritty battle on the field, with more fighting than clear-cut chances. Davide Calabria, Olivier Giroud and Leao had decent opportunities, but they couldn't beat Marco Carnesecchi.

Milan remains in third place in Serie A with 53 points, while Atalanta sits in fifth with 46 points.
