Lawsuit over his signature ponytail! Erling Haaland sues major airline
The star Norwegian forward intends to hold the popular airline accountable for the unlawful commercial exploitation of his image.
Details: Manchester City and Norway star Erling Haaland has filed an official lawsuit against Norwegian airline Norwegian Air Shuttle, accusing the company of using his image without authorization. The report comes from the respected publication Voetbal International.
The legal dispute was triggered by an advertising campaign in which the airline placed a stylized image of the footballer’s famous hairstyle — his blond ponytail — on the fuselage of an aircraft. The illustration was accompanied by a slogan claiming that airliners had never looked so Norwegian.
The striker is represented by attorney Thomas Hagen, who stressed that the marketing campaign constitutes a blatant violation of the athlete’s copyright and image rights. Haaland’s camp considers the move an unlawful commercial use of someone else’s popularity, as the forward never consented to having his brand incorporated into the airline’s advertising.
It is worth noting that Erling Haaland is extremely vigilant when it comes to protecting his personal rights and registered trademarks, while this season the 26-year-old marksman continues to deliver phenomenal performances on the European stage.
