Last-minute save: Betis player Vitor Roque almost missed team's trip to Belgium
Vitor Roque, a forward for Real Betis, nearly missed the team’s trip to Belgium for their UEFA Conference League clash against Gent, according to Sportowe Fakty.
The Brazilian forgot his passport at home, forcing him to rush back to retrieve it. Since Brazil is outside the EU, he is required to carry his documents for travel within Europe.
To speed up the process, a club staff member accompanied him on the trip back home and helped him return quickly to the airport, where the rest of the squad was waiting for departure.
After Roque returned, the team successfully boarded their charter flight to Ostend.
The match against Gent is scheduled for Thursday, February 13. Having finished 15th in the overall Conference League standings, Betis must play a knockout round to advance to the main phase of the tournament’s playoffs.
So far this season, Vitor Roque has played 30 matches in all competitions, scoring 7 goals and providing 2 assists. In La Liga, Betis currently sits 11th, with 29 points.
