Larcamón Confirmed as Cruz Azul Head Coach

Víctor Velázquez, president of Cruz Azul, officially announced that Nicolás Larcamón will be the new manager of La Máquina. The Argentine coach replaces Vicente Sánchez, who served as interim following Martín Anselmi’s departure. Speaking at a sponsor presentation event, Velázquez stated that Larcamón met all the criteria the board was seeking: an attacking philosophy, high pressing, and a style of play that excites fans.
“We wanted a team that plays with intensity, that pushes high, and adopts a new playing model. Nicolás fits that profile,” Velázquez explained. Larcamón, who recently coached Necaxa, will also oversee squad decisions for the upcoming season, which includes participation in Liga MX, the Leagues Cup, and the Intercontinental Cup.
Velázquez also confirmed ongoing talks for two potential signings: AC Milan striker Luka Jovic and Necaxa midfielder José Paradela. “We’ve had some contact, but the deal still needs time to mature,” he said about Jovic. On Paradela, he added: “We really like how he plays.”
In addition, Cruz Azul has finalized the contract renewals of Erik Lira and Carlos Rodríguez. Both players have agreed to terms and are expected to sign after completing their international duties with the Mexican national team. “They’re very happy at the club,” Velázquez concluded.
