For a long time, the futures of Barcelona's key players Frenkie de Jong and Ronald Araujo have been a headache for the club's management. Now, it seems that "Blaugrana" president Joan Laporta is determined to resolve the matter decisively.

Details: According to Diario Sport, the Barcelona boss has issued an ultimatum to both players—to extend their contracts with the club by the end of the season if they wish to remain in the Catalan capital. Otherwise, they will be placed on the transfer market.

The "Blaugrana" are keen to avoid a scenario where de Jong and Araujo leave as free agents. The Uruguayan defender was close to signing a contract extension back in January, but the deal ultimately fell through due to his role as a central defender in Xavi's squad.

Currently, negotiations with Araujo appear to be nearing a positive conclusion. However, the same cannot be said for de Jong. The club is trying to reduce the Dutchman's salary, but a final decision has yet to be made. He is expected to decide within six months.

Reminder: It was previously reported that Barcelona has made renewing the contracts of de Jong and Araujo a top priority.
