Lanús Aim to Finish Top of Group Stage Against Eliminated Puerto Cabello

Lanús host Puerto Cabello on Tuesday at Estadio Néstor Díaz Pérez, kicking off at 7 p.m. local time, in the opening fixture of the final round of the 2025 Copa Sudamericana group stage. As reported by TyC Sports, the Argentine side has already clinched a spot in the Round of 16, but is still in the running to finish as the tournament’s top overall seed.
Mauricio Pellegrino’s squad is coming off a morale-boosting 2-0 win over Vélez in the Copa Argentina, ending several negative streaks. In Sudamericana, Lanús currently sits among the top-performing group winners and will look to climb even higher with a strong result. Walter Bou, Eduardo Salvio, and Ramiro Carrera are set to feature as the club seeks to close out the group stage in style.
Puerto Cabello, meanwhile, have nothing to play for. The Venezuelan side sits at the bottom of the group and is already mathematically eliminated from both Sudamericana and potential third-place playoffs. Their focus will be on salvaging pride with a first away point.
For Lanús, this is more than a routine match—it’s a chance to cement their status as one of the competition’s true contenders.
