Nice gesture. The top clubs in Spain will share the money with Osasuna
Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Atlético have agreed to share their prize money for participating in the Spanish Super Cup with the fourth, smaller participating team, Osasuna.
According to Marca, the top clubs have agreed to allocate €200,000 each from their own prize money to the club from Pamplona. This move is aimed at making the distribution of earnings for this tournament more equitable than the system proposed by the former president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, Luis Rubiales. Initially, Osasuna was supposed to receive less because it has a smaller television audience.
In the case of reaching the final, any of the teams will receive an additional €1 million, and in the case of victory, an additional €2 million.
Osasuna will face Barcelona in the semi-final, with the match scheduled for tomorrow, January 10. Today's semi-final features the Madrid derby.
The Spanish Super Cup matches will take place in Saudi Arabia.
