Kranevitter Turns Down Barcelona SC Offer and Remains on the Sidelines at River

Barcelona SC made a serious push to strengthen their midfield with the addition of Matías Kranevitter, but the River Plate midfielder declined the offer. As reported by Argentine journalist Gustavo Yarroch, the Ecuadorian club submitted a formal proposal for the 31-year-old, who has fallen out of favor under Marcelo Gallardo.

Despite being under contract until the end of 2025, Kranevitter has rejected multiple offers from both domestic and international clubs, a decision that has sparked frustration among River Plate fans. The midfielder has featured in only eight matches this season with no goals or assists, yet remains on a substantial salary.

Barcelona SC had hoped to make him their third reinforcement of the window, after signing Miguel Parrales and Jean Carlos Montaño from local sides. With the transfer window for free agents open until July 15, the club continues its search for a central midfielder who can elevate their title ambitions.
