Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany praised Boca Juniors and their fans after a hard-fought win for the Germans at the 2025 Club World Cup in Miami. The Belgian manager acknowledged the intensity of the Argentine side and the atmosphere created by their supporters.

“In the first half we played really well, created some good chances. But it wasn’t easy—we played against an aggressive team, full of passion. And their fans were extremely impressive,” Kompany told ESPN.

He admitted Boca had strong spells in the second half, during which they equalized through a great individual move by Miguel Merentiel: “Obviously you never want to concede, but when you don’t take your chances, that can happen. We stayed calm even at the end, when we scored. We were aggressive when we needed to be, and composed when it mattered.”

Kompany concluded by reflecting on the support of the South American fans and the broader value of the tournament: “It was unique. First of all, I love football. And if you love football, you want to see these great South American and African teams play against Europe’s best. It’s a fantastic experience, and now we want to keep going.”
