Killed? How the internet is reacting to Vinícius' "disappearance"
The internet has apparently decided that the Vinícius conspiracy story is far too entertaining to disappear.
Details: The bizarre theory claiming that Vinícius Júnior was replaced by a double or clone has already produced stories involving his appearance, tattoos, the CIA and even aliens. But social media users have continued adding new jokes to the saga, with some of the funniest reactions focusing not on where the “real” Vinícius went, but on what exactly is wrong with the supposed replacement.

- One reaction on X joked that the original Vinícius had been replaced by a clone — and that this finally explained why he had been playing so badly.
- Some users compared his new appearance to American singer Jason Derulo.

- Others went in a completely different direction and claimed the new-look Vinícius resembled former Brazil and Chelsea midfielder Ramires.
The football itself has only made the meme stronger. After Brazil's match against India, Vinícius played just 45 minutes without a goal, assist, successful dribble or key pass. For users already joking about a supposed replacement, another difficult performance immediately became fresh material for the “that's not Vini” posts.
Not everyone joined the conspiracy side. Some Real Madrid supporters responded by sharing training clips of Vinícius finishing chances, joking that the “old Vini” was still somewhere inside him. At this point, practically any good or bad touch by the Brazilian can be turned into another chapter of the clone story.
It is worth noting that there is no evidence that Vinícius was replaced by anyone — the entire story remains an internet meme and conspiracy theory. Real Madrid's official player data currently lists the Brazilian with 8 club appearances, 1 goal and 3 assists in the 2026/27 season.
Reminder: This is not the real Vinícius. Just look at his stats against India
