Keylor Navas and His Future With Costa Rica: A Story With No Clear Ending Keylor Navas and His Future With Costa Rica: A Story With No Clear Ending

The legendary Costa Rican goalkeeper Keylor Navas spoke with the press in his country, addressing his current situation, his relationship with the national team, and a recent conversation he had with coach Miguel Herrera.

Navas played coy with his answers, according to Yashin Quesada. His statements to Encuentro Deportivo clearly indicate that his return to the national team remains a mystery.

“I had a call with him, but it wasn't exactly to discuss the national team. It was more of a touch base. Nothing is defined. Neither do I have the answer about whether I will return, nor do I think he has the answer about whether he will call me,” Navas stated.

The Newell’s Old Boys goalkeeper also reacted to comments from the national team coach, "Piojo" Herrera, who praised his career.

“I'm out of the national team because I resigned. What I understood is that he said I'm one of the best goalkeepers in the world, and that any coach would like to have me. I'm not saying I have to go, but it's normal for the best to be in the national team,” he added.

Regarding his departure from the "Tico" squad, Navas was candid:

“I made that decision because it was what I felt. I needed to step away to heal many things in my mind, heart, and body. Today I enjoy the moment I'm living.”

Although he didn't confirm his return, he hasn't entirely closed the door. For now, Keylor remains focused on the present with his club, Newell's Old Boys, where his next challenge will be facing none other than Boca Juniors in the Argentine Professional League.
