Kenya Mourns the Loss of Football Star Ezekiel Otuoma
Kenyan football mourns the loss of former FKF Premier League player Ezekiel Otuoma, who died on Saturday after a long battle with Motor Neurone Disease. Otuoma, 31, has played for a number of prestigious clubs, including AFC Leopards, Ulinzi Stars, FC Talanta, and Western Stima, leaving an indelible mark on the sport.
Clubs, players, and fans have all expressed poignant tributes to the striker, applauding his ability and perseverance. AFC Leopards tweeted, "Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and the entire football community. "Rest in peace, Otuoma." Kakamega Homeboyz FC recalled him as a "lethal opponent" and extended their sympathies to his family.
Otuoma gained fame playing for Muhoroni Youth and Western Stima. In 2015, he was selected for the Kenya Under-23 team and in 2017, he joined the Harambee Stars' provisional squad. Sofapaka FC described him as "a real fighter on and off the field," and Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga called him a "winner" who motivated many people.
Despite his illness, Otuoma’s passion for football never wavered, often attending matches with his wife, Racheal. Her emotional tribute highlighted the deep love and bond they shared: “In life, I loved you dearly, and in death, I love you still.”
Otuoma’s legacy is one of resilience, love for the game, and strength in adversity. His contributions to Kenyan football will be cherished for years to come.
