Kelechi Iheanacho Scores Dramatic Late Winner as Celtic Beat Motherwell 3-2
Kelechi Iheanacho scored a dramatic late winner as Celtic secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over Motherwell on Wednesday to keep their Scottish Premiership title hopes alive.
Motherwell opened the scoring in the 17th minute through Elliot Watt before Daizen Maeda equalised for Celtic just before halftime.
Benjamin Nygren then put Celtic ahead in the 58th minute, but the hosts fought back late on as Liam Gordon made it 2-2 in the 85th minute.
Just when the game appeared to be ending in a draw, Celtic were awarded a stoppage-time penalty after a foul by Sam Nicholson. Iheanacho calmly converted the spot-kick in the 97th minute to seal a massive win for the visitors.
The result means the Scottish Premiership title race will now be decided on the final day of the season when Celtic face league leaders Heart of Midlothian. Celtic currently sit one point behind Hearts heading into Saturday’s decisive clash.
