In the night of January 12, the semifinal matches of the hard court WTA 500 tournament in Adelaide (Australia) took place.

Luck was on the side of the 15th-ranked player in the world, Daria Kasatkina, once again. The second seed, Jessica Pegula, withdrew from the competition before her match against Daria. As a result, Kasatkina advanced to the next stage without any competition.
