Kaizer Chiefs Eye Simba Duo Amid Rising Interest in Tanzanian Talent
Kaizer Chiefs are intensifying their search for new talent, with a strong focus on Tanzania. The Soweto giants are reportedly targeting Simba SC duo Kibu Denis and Jean Charles Ahoua, after being impressed by their recent performances in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The two players featured prominently for Fadlu Davids’ Simba side, which knocked Stellenbosch FC out of the semi-finals. Stellies keeper Lee Langeveldt, who faced them twice, offered a firsthand assessment of their level.
Structured, Competitive, and Technically Sharp
“They’ve got a good structure. You can clearly see the system they want to play under Fadlu,” Langeveldt told Soccer Laduma. “They’ve got a couple of good players. I think Fadlu has done a great job with the team.”
Despite Stellies losing 1-0 away and drawing 0-0 at home, Langeveldt believes they were unlucky not to score an away goal and hinted that the Simba players left a solid impression.
Chiefs Target More Tanzanian Talent
Chiefs' interest doesn't stop at Simba. Reports claim coach Nasreddine Nabi recently visited Tanzania to pursue Azam midfielder Feisal Salum, who featured in the Taifa Stars’ goalless draw with Bafana Bafana during the last international break.
Transfer Tug-of-War
Despite the interest, Simba're reluctant to let go of their top players aiming to maintain their strong presence in continental competitions. Chiefs, however are pushing to reshape their squad and end Mamelodi Sundowns dominance in the PSL.
In addition to their Tanzanian targets, Chiefs are also reportedly monitoring Slovakian striker Robert Polievka as part of broader recruitment strategy for the new season.
