Kaizer Chiefs extend contract with key squad member
One of the team's midfield lynchpins will continue his journey with Kaizer Chiefs.
Details: According to UnplayableZA on their X page, the Amakhosi have reached an agreement with 29-year-old central midfielder Yusuf Maart to extend his contract.
After a recent exodus of players, the Chiefs are now shifting focus to securing deals with those who are vital for the upcoming season.
Until recently, it was uncertain whether a new deal would be struck with one of last season's captains, as his current contract was due to expire in just 10 days. However, the club’s management has decided to keep Maart on board. The length of the new contract remains undisclosed for now.
Yusuf Maart joined the squad in 2022 from Sekhukhune United for €360,000 and has since become a reliable anchor in the Amakhosi midfield—earning the captain's armband in the process.
Last season, Maart featured in 33 matches, scoring three goals and providing three assists. In total, he has made 95 appearances in a Kaizer Chiefs shirt.
