Kaizer Chiefs close in on Ime Okon transfer, but there's a hurdle. What’s the issue?

Kaizer Chiefs are looking to strengthen their defensive line and have set their sights on SuperSport United’s Ime Okon. However, there’s a stumbling block in completing the deal.
Details: According to Siya sources, SuperSport United are demanding a fee from Kaizer Chiefs for the player’s move. Although Okon’s contract is set to expire on June 30, the club is entitled to claim compensation from his next team.
This isn’t a transfer fee per se, but rather a developmental compensation, as the player progressed through all levels at SuperSport.
Quote: “It’s similar to compensation, and it’s believed to be around 5 million rand. It’s a fee because he’s a developing player, and his parent club should benefit from that. It’s not a transfer fee. No, it’s not,” a source told Soccer Laduma.
Kaizer Chiefs are eager to finalize the deal before heading to the Netherlands for preseason training. If they succeed, they could get ahead of two direct rivals: Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.
Reminder: As previously reported, agent Glynn Binkin has commented on the situation surrounding his client Ime Okon.
