Kaizer Chiefs Brace for Sundowns Clash Amid Morale-Boosting Team Bonding

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has emphasized the importance of team bonding ahead of their crucial Betway Premiership showdown against Mamelodi Sundowns. Chiefs, coming off a 4-1 thrashing by SuperSport United, took part in a Toyota-sponsored team-building session to boost morale before facing the league leaders.
“This was a great opportunity for us after a bad result. The players needed this mental reset before the big game,” Nabi said after the event.
Chiefs Face Tactical Challenges
The Soweto giants will be without key player Gaston Sirino, who is suspended after receiving a red card in their previous match. His absence forces Nabi to rethink his attacking setup as they aim to end Sundowns’ dominance.
Yusuf Maart: Chiefs Can Stop Sundowns
Club captain Yusuf Maart remains confident in his team’s ability to secure a positive result. “We are also a big team, and we must take that mentality into the game. We create a lot of chances, and we believe we can win,” Maart stated.
Breaking the Sundowns Dominance
Chiefs have struggled against Sundowns in recent meetings, with their last victory coming in April 2021. This season, they have already suffered two defeats to the reigning champions. A win on Saturday would boost morale and improve their league position.
Hunt’s Comments on Chiefs’ Struggles
Meanwhile, former Chiefs coach Gavin Hunt has voiced frustration over his dismissal, arguing that he was not given enough time to rebuild the team. Fans remain divided over his tenure, with some believing he deserved another chance, while others insist that his playing style did not fit the club’s philosophy.
Chiefs’ Road Ahead
After the Sundowns match, Chiefs will play Magesi FC, who are in danger of relegation, before turning their attention to the Nedbank Cup quarterfinal matchup with Stellenbosch. The club has a critical chance to establish consistency and put an end to their trophy drought with the forthcoming games.
