Juventus snatches talent pursued by Chelsea: €40 million transfer agreed

The Old Lady continues its ambitious transfer campaign.

Details: Juventus is on the verge of completing one of this summer’s most high-profile signings. The Turin side has reached a fundamental agreement with Bayer 04 for the transfer of 18-year-old Bosnian prodigy Kerim Alajbegovic.

According to renowned and highly respected journalist Patrick Berger, the fixed fee for the deal will be €33 million, with the German club potentially earning up to €40 million including bonuses.

Chelsea was initially considered the frontrunner for the young winger and had been negotiating with Bayer, but at the decisive moment, Juventus managed to outpace the English club and also beat out Napoli in the race.

Now, only the final formalities remain: the player must undergo a medical and sign a contract with the Turin side. Once those steps are completed, the transfer will be officially announced.

Alajbegovic is regarded as one of Europe's most promising young players. He spent last season at Red Bull Salzburg, after which Bayer activated their buy-back clause.

According to Transfermarkt, Alajbegovic’s market value is estimated at €25 million.
