Juventus is close to extending the contract with Italian defender Daniele Rugani.

According to journalist Nicolò Schira, negotiations between the parties are in the final stages. The new agreement for the defender will be extended until 2026 with an option for an additional year.

The defender has agreed to a reduction in salary to remain with the Turin club. It is expected that in the coming days, the Juventus management will hold a final meeting with the player and his representatives to finalize the agreement.

Rugani, 29, came through the ranks at Empoli before joining Juventus in 2015. In the current season, the experienced defender has played 16 matches for the Bianconeri, scoring three goals.

Juventus currently occupies third place in Serie A with 59 points after 30 matches played. Massimiliano Allegri's team has not tasted victory in the league for four matches. Today, at 20:45 Central European Time, Juve will host Fiorentina.

Earlier reports indicated that Juventus is considering changes in the attacking flanks. One of the primary transfer targets for the club is a player from Manchester United.
