In the second leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16, Atletico lost to Real in a penalty shootout (2-4). One of the shots turned out to be quite quirky, and its author commented on the episode.
Details: In an interview with Marca, Julian Alvarez stated that he did not feel the ball's touch during his shot. He also explained to his teammates that the ball went exactly where he intended, and he managed to trick Thibaut Courtois, who jumped in the opposite direction.
It was previously reported that one of the most controversial moments of the match was the disallowed Alvarez shot in the penalty shootout.
However, replays, photos, and freeze frames do not provide a definitive answer as to whether Alvarez touched the ball twice. From the angles shown in the broadcast, the contact of the Argentine's supporting foot with the ball is not visible.
