Jorge Rodríguez has come full circle. The Mexican right-back was officially unveiled as Atlas' second signing of the summer, returning to the club where he first trained as a youth player. Speaking at his presentation, Rodríguez described the move as a “dream come true” — an emotional moment that brought his parents, lifelong Atlas fans, to tears.

Born in Tlaquepaque, Rodríguez spent his early years in the club’s youth system, playing until the U-13 level. Now, ten years later, he returns to the red-and-black shirt with renewed ambition. “When we got the call, we were in shock. My parents cried first, and then I did too,” he admitted.

Rodríguez joins a squad led by manager Gonzalo Pineda, which had already added Brazilian winger Gustavo Ferrareis. Goalkeeper César Ramos is expected to be the club’s third signing, though FIFA administrative issues have delayed formal announcements.

The defender is familiar with several current teammates, including José Abella, Adrián Mora, and Alonso Escoboza, making his integration smoother. Rodríguez praised the competitiveness of the squad and emphasized his commitment: “The fans can expect everything from me. I hope I earn their trust and live up to the responsibility of wearing these colors again.”
