Jordan Ayew makes history as he joins elite Ghana trio with third FIFA World Cup appearance
Jordan Ayew has further cemented his legacy in Ghanaian football after becoming only the fourth player from the country to feature in three FIFA World Cup tournaments.
The 34-year-old reached the milestone during Ghana’s narrow 1-0 victory over Panama in their opening Group L match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Toronto.
It marks Ayew’s third appearance at football’s biggest stage, having previously represented the Black Stars at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and again in Qatar in 2022.
With this achievement, he joins an exclusive group of Ghanaian greats—Asamoah Gyan, Sulley Muntari, and his elder brother André Ayew—who have all featured in three FIFA World Cup editions
