Football player Jonathan Bolingi, a native of the Congo, has returned to training with FK Vojvodina after making 34 appearances and scoring nine goals for his nation. He had been out of football for 485 days because of a serious lung disease. After being admitted to the hospital in September 2023, he is now well enough to resume his career.

Bolingi's health issues started soon after he moved to the Serbian club from Buriram United in Thailand. He was found to have a serious lung infection caused by a virus and was in a coma for several days at a lung disease hospital in Sremska Kamenica. He received a lot of support during this trying time from his team, supporters, and the Congolese embassy in Serbia.

The 30-year-old attacker, who had fully healed, was keen to rejoin the Vojvodina squad and returned to training on January 10, 2025. While his last competitive match was in September 2023, where he scored in a 2-1 victory, Bolingi has yet to make his return to the national team.

His next steps will involve regaining match fitness and convincing coach Sébastien Desabre of his readiness to contribute once more to the Leopards. Bolingi’s resilience and determination have made his comeback an inspirational story for football fans worldwide.
