Joined Vinicius. Mourinho says he has been victimised by UEFA's actions

Recently, prominent figures in football have been directing strong criticism toward UEFA, with José Mourinho now voicing his own frustrations against European football’s governing body.

Details: The Portuguese coach believes that UEFA has been targeting him since he criticized referee Anthony Taylor after Roma’s 2023 Europa League final loss to Sevilla. Mourinho claims that his teams have since faced biased officiating.

The latest example being a recent match against Manchester United, where Fenerbahçe should have been awarded a penalty after a challenge on Bright Osayi-Samuel by Manuel Ugarte. Mourinho was shown a red card in this match.

Quote: “I feel it’s unfair. In football, you’re punished, and it should be a clean slate afterward, but that hasn’t been the case. We were knocked out of the Champions League qualifiers by Lille with a penalty in the 94th minute that only VAR saw.

Then, on Thursday, I was just shouting like everyone on the bench and in the stadium, ‘That’s a penalty!’ without any insults, yet I was shown a red card. I know it’s a battle I can’t win,” Mourinho told Sky Sports.

Reminder: Real Madrid, particularly Vinícius Júnior, has also been vocal in its criticism of UEFA. Representatives from the Spanish club believe that the organization, led by Aleksander Čeferin, influenced the Ballon d’Or outcome as retaliation for Real’s support of the Super League.
