John Obi Mikel Names Youri Tielemans as Manchester United's Best Summer Signing

Former Chelsea and Super Eagles midfielder John Obi Mikel believes Youri Tielemans is the standout signing of the summer transfer window, describing Manchester United's deal for the Belgian midfielder as one of the biggest bargains in recent years.

Speaking on The Obi One Podcast, Mikel said he was stunned that United managed to secure the experienced midfielder for a reported £35 million, insisting the fee does not reflect the player's quality.

"For me, it's Youri Tielemans. Honestly... how did Manchester United get him for £35 million? That's a steal. I watched him before and during the World Cup, and you can see that this is a player."

The former Chelsea midfielder praised Tielemans' versatility, pointing out that the Belgian is capable of playing in several midfield roles, making him a valuable asset for any manager.

“He scores goals, poses a threat from set pieces, excels with the ball at his feet, and seldom loses possession. The only critique one might have is that he lacks pace, but his game intelligence is remarkable.

“He demonstrates great awareness both with and without the ball. When I assess all the midfielders who have moved to different clubs this summer, Tielemans stands out as the best,” the former Super Eagles captain remarked.
