Jess Thorup is under pressure at Al Ahly
The results are not reassuring
The Egyptian club is reportedly already looking for a successor to the Danish tactician.
Jess Thorup’s performances at the helm of Al Ahly’s coaching staff have not been universally praised in recent weeks. But the club’s elimination in the quarter-finals of the 2025–2026 CAF Champions League has made the situation worse. This could cost him his job in the coming days.
According to sources, the management of the most successful club in the CAF Champions League is already looking for a replacement for Jess Thorup. Among the candidates being considered is Hossam El Badry, the current manager of Al Ahli Tripoli in Libya. If the club manages to reach an agreement, Jess Thorup, whose contract runs until 2028, could be sacked.
