Jess Thorup is expected to leave Al Ahly at the end of the season
His contract runs until 2028
The Danish manager will not see out his contract with the Egyptian club.
Jess Thorup will have spent just one season at the helm of Al Ahly SC’s coaching staff. Appointed in October 2025, the Dane is set to leave the Egyptian giants at the end of this season. According to reports, he will bid farewell on Wednesday 20 May following the final match of the season against Al Masry in the Egyptian Premier League.
Under Jess Thorup’s leadership, Al Ahly SC has had a difficult season. The 12-time CAF Champions League winners were knocked out of the competition at the quarter-final stage. In the league, the results have not been particularly impressive. Al Ahly SC is currently battling for a place in next season’s Champions League.
